Abacus DataGraphics Ltd. Is engaged in oilfield mapping throughout Western Canada. Our mapping is used to help ensure the physical integrity of our customers’ pipelines and facilities. We specialize in mapping congested areas where little underground information is available.

Abacus has two main departments:

• Field (surveying and line locating)
• Drafting

Field:

Duties would include:

• Acquiring information on oilfield sites by use of underground facility locators
• Using total stations linked to the data collectors to capture field information
• Staking underground facilities for construction purposes
• Using GPS to tie-in roads, houses and other features for specialized area maps.

Drafting:

Duties would include:

• Using CAD software to generate maps using field data
• Modifying existing provincial mapping to fit needs of customers
• Using a traverse program to enter new legal plan data into existing maps
• Using several different software packages to generate our maps: AutoCAD v. 2004, AutoCad Map, M-Color, and Adobe Acrobat are just a few
• Training is provided on all software with the exception of AutoCAD
• All our CAD stations are at least a PIII 1.0GHz, with dual 17” monitors
